Global Missions Day – Charlie & Shannon Worthy – November 15, 2020
The Worthy’s have served as our missionaries in Italy for more than 17 years. Charlie and Shannon have four children, two of whom are students in Carson-Newman and Union Universities, while the two younger ones remain at home. They work to spread the Gospel through relationships and through using volunteer teams, connecting Southern Baptist Churches with ministry needs in Italy and throughout Europe. A special focus is on mobilizing students for short-term student ministry opportunities. Our Church supports the Worthy’s and almost 4,000 other Southern Baptist international missionaries through the Cooperative Program, and through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Our part is not only in giving to their support, but also in praying for them and for the lost people of Italy. They describe Italians as warm, loving and open people, but for most of them they are unaware of their need for a Savior. Evangelical Christians in Italy number roughly 1%, and most Italians are nominal Catholics at best. The Worthy family and ministry is featured on Day 6 of our “2020 Week of Prayer for International Missions” (Nov. 29 – Dec. 6). We are indeed greatly blessed to have Charlie Worthy speak to our church today! Please prayerfully consider giving generously this year through the Lottie Moon Offering.
